What Are Creative Assets?
When your account becomes eligible for Smart Shopping, Google will suggest to upload creative assets to optimise your Google Ads. These assets include: a square logo, a rectangular logo and a marketing image. Google is very particular about what is and isn’t acceptable to be displayed in an ad, so there are many requirements that we must follow in order to get your images approved for advertising.
Creative assets may also be used for display ads which feature ads to users who have previously engaged with your website.

Common Rejection Notifications
Text Too Small
The most common rejection that we receive from Google is that the logo is unreadable due to the text being too small. You may send us a 1,000 x 1,000 square logo with clear and readable text, however Google will resize the image to show on smaller screens which can be as small as 50 x 50 pixels which causes the text to be unreadable.
For example, say your logo is similar to the following image:

In terms of logos, there is nothing wrong with this image. However, when it is resized to 50 x 50 pixels the readability of the text becomes a problem:

To make the text readable at such a small size, try to rearrange your logo like the one below:

Alternatively, the text can be removed altogether to remove any chance of rejection.
Background
The background can only be white or transparent to be approved.
Incorrect Ratio
The images must meet the dimension requirements as listed above.
What Is A Marketing Image?
A marketing image should represent your brand. Think about how you want your business to be perceived by potential customers and create an image that best represents your vision.

Display Ads
The Google Display Network can help you reach people whilst they are browsing their favourite websites, watching a YouTube video or using mobile devices and apps.
In this way it allows you to find the right audience as its targeting options let you strategically show your message to potential customers at the right place and time.
Single Image Ads
These ads will only display the image placement, with no room for surrounding ad copy. Google will show these in specific website placements, based on the sizing of the image.

Responsive Display Ads
Responsive Display Ads combine the image with ad copy. As a result, when Google shows your ads it will select which image and ad copy combination it uses based on the website placement and likelihood of performance. Just like the logo, Google adjusts your image sizing so that it can be shown across a variety of ad formats and locations. We recommend that you have multiple assets as it gives Google the best opportunity to optimise your ads.
